Become a Delegate

Many elections, including this one, may be decided before there is an election. Delegates, determined at the upcoming Caucus Night, decide who ends up on the ballot.

If you want to be one of the decision-makers in that process, you need to become a delegate at Caucus Night.

2026 Caucus Night

What is Caucus Night?

Community members meet to elect delegates and precinct officers. Delegates select nominees at convention and precinct officers talk to their neighbors and encourage them to vote.

Why should I try to become a delegate?

Delegates vote to select nominees at conventions. Many candidates who file for office will never make it to the primary ballot. As a delegate, you get to determine who will represent the Democratic Party.

This cycle, there are several key elections to determine who will represent our area:

  • State House District 21 — This person represents our community in the Utah State House. Stephen Otterstrom is running for this seat and needs your support to get on the ballot.

  • County Council At-Large — This person represents our community at the county level and will have a say in budgets, taxes, and community resources (such as childcare and senior centers)

  • U.S. House of Representatives, District 1 — This person represents our community at the federal level. There are many candidates and only a handful will make it to the primary. You can have a say in who that is as a delegate.
